The University of Arizona has recently changed their General Chemistry curriculum: Chemical Thinking. It is pioneered by Dr. John Pollard where he addresses several limitations of the current general chemistry curriculum. This redesigned curriculum aims to make it more intellecually stimulating, present a more coherent view of chemistry and better reflect the nature of chemical thinking. Below lists all the Units that are covered in this new curriculum.
General Chemistry: Chemical ThinkingUnit 1 – How do we distinguish substances?
Unit 2 – How do we determine structure?
Unit 3 – How do we predict properties?
Unit 4 – How do we characterize chemical processes?
Unit 5 – How do we predict change?
Unit 6 – How do we control chemical processes?
Unit 7 – How do we synthesize substances?
Unit 8 – How do we harness chemical energy?
